Hefezopf
Also Known As: Hefekranz, Striezel, Yeast Braid
A sweet yeast dough which is divided into 3 or more equal strands, then braided. It is either shaped into a long loaf, or the ends of the braids are brought together to form a wreath. Hefezopf breads are popular in Germany for Easter, New Year, and baptism celebrations. It is also often used as a center piece or decoration.
