Also Known As:   Kastenweissbrot

Weissbrot (white bread) is bread made from finely ground wheat flour. It can be free-formed, shaped into an oval without the use of a bread loaf pan. Or it can be baked in a loaf pan - this bread is then called a Kastenweissbrot.

Bread Category:  Breads of wheat flour

Region:  Throughout Germany

Main Ingredients
Wheat flour, yeast and/or sourdough

Bread Characteristics
Mild taste with a touch of sweetness; golden brown crust; soft, porous crumb

Serving Suggestions
Because of its mild taste, Weissbrot goes particularly well with a little butter and honey or jam. It also goes well with spreadable or sliced cheese. Weissbrot is great toasted!
