Bratwurst mit Limburger   (Bratwurst with Limburger Cheese)

4 Bratwurst
1 Tablespoon Butter or Margarine
4 Teaspoons Mustard
4 slices Limburger Cheese

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

Fill a large pot with water. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and put in the bratwurst. Let bratwurst sit in hot water for 5 minutes. Remove bratwurst from the water.

Heat the butter or margarine in a frying pan. Place the 4 bratwurst in the pan and fry in the butter until a golden brown color develops.

Cut each bratwurst lengthwise about half-way through the sausage - do not cut all the way through. In the center cut, brush each bratwurst with 1 teaspoon mustard. Break a slice of Limburger cheese into smaller pieces and fill the center cut of the bratwurst with the limburger pieces.

Place the filled bratwurst onto a greased pan (or pan lined with parchment paper). Bake for 15 minutes in preheated oven.

Bratwurst mit Limburger goes well with...
Bayerischer Kartoffelsalat  (Bavarian Potato Salad)
