Semolina Dumplings
Also Known As: Griessklösschen
Semolina dumplings, as the name suggests, are dumplings made primarily from semolina. They are most often added to a soup or baked with cheese. They can also be made sweet for a dessert. Semolina dumplings aren't formed into a ball like most other forms of German dumplings. Rather, spoonfuls of dough are dropped into boiling salt water. The resulting shape resembles the head of a spoon.
Sweet semolina dumplings are usually served in a bowl, topped with cinnamon sugar or served with cooked fruit.
Main Ingredients
Semolina, eggs, milk, butter, nutmeg, lemon zest. Sugar is added for sweet dumplings.
