Fränkische Mehlklösse
(Franconian Flour Dumplings)
4 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 1/2 cup Milk
2 Eggs
5 Bread Rolls
1 teaspoon Salt, cut into tiny cubes
Butter
Combine flour, salt, and milk. Add eggs. Beat this mixture until bubbles begin to form.
In a frying pan, melt butter. Toast bread cubes in the butter until golden brown. Fold the toasted bread cubes into the flour mixture.
In a large pot, bring salt water to a boil.
Use a large spoon to form 4 dumplings. Drop the dumplings into the boiling water. Reduce to a simmer and cook dumplings 25-30 minutes, covered. Dumplings are finished when they have become larger and float to the top of the water.
