Domina
The Domina grape is a cross between the Portugieser and the Spätburgunder. It was first developed in 1927 by Peter Morio, who was also responsible for the Bacchus and Morio-Muskat grapes.
About 988 acres (400 hectares) of the German wine regions are covered with Domina vines, 865 of these are found in Franken.
Domina wines are dark, deep red with a fruity cherry- or boysenberry-fragrance. Young wines are acidic and become less acidic as they age. Domina wines go well with game, beef roasts, and dark sauces.
