Bratäpfel im Nussmantel   (Baked Apples with Nut Crust)

5 Apples
1/2 stick Butter
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons Sugar
1/2 cup Nuts, ground (choose your favorite nuts)
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
5 Cinnamon Sticks

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Wash, peel, and core the apples.

Combine sugar, nuts, and ground cinnamon. Melt the butter. Roll the apples in the melted butter, then roll the apples in the nut mixture until they are well coated.

Mix the left over nut mixture with the left over butter. Fill the apples with this mixture. Stick one cinnamon stick into the center of each apple. Place apples in a greased casserole dish.

Bake apples for 45-50 minutes, until the crust turns a nice golden brown.

Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
