Frankfurter Kranz Frankfurter Kranz is a cake filled with butter-cream and marmelade, frosted with butter-cream, then decorated with pralines (or almonds) and candied cherries. It is a favorite for coffee-time (in the afternoon) of Germans in Frankfurt and throughout the country.

History
The history of the cake is not known. However, it already existed in the 1800's in Frankfurt. The author Karl Julius Weber writes about his travels throughout Germany in 1828, during which he discovered a bakery in Frankfurt serving the Frankfurter Kranz.
